¡Te necesitamos! En el proyecto «I SPEAK ENGLISH»

¿Quieres colaborar con la comunidad mijeña? ¿Te gustaría dar clases de conversación en inglés con niños en los Colegios e Institutos ?

El proyecto “I SPEAK ENGLISH”, iniciado hace 15 años por el Dep. de Extranjeros, Ayuntamiento de Mijas, tiene por finalidad ayudar a los jóvenes de los colegios y Institutos de Mijas a desarrollar y mejorar el habla inglesa. Un grupo de voluntarios, principalmente británicos, asociados a la Asoc. AIVOMI, acuden a los centros dos veces por la mañana y durante 2 horas aproximadamente conversan, juegan y organizan talleres con  los alumnos. Tanto el profesorado y alumnos del los centros están encantados con esta iniciativa y los voluntarios muy contentos de colaborar y como comentan algunos «Es una manera de devolver algo a la comunidad donde vivimos y estamos muy contentos en colaborar,» comenta la coordinadora de los grupos,Agnes Smith.

AIVOMI es una asociación ubicada en el núcleo mijeño hace 2 años y que presta servicios de un grupo de  interpretes voluntarios diario en los Centros de Salud, Care y la Guardia Civil. También organiza ahora el grupo de voluntarios que participan en el proyecto «I speak English».

«Desde el Dep. de Extranjeros, Ayunt. de Mijas colaboramos ahora en este proyecto como mediadores y en la difusión con los medios de comunicación española y extranjera para captar mas voluntarios en general « comenta Anette Skou, Dep. de Extranjeros.

«Estamos muy agradecidos a la Asoc. AIVOMI y a todos los voluntarios por toda la labor que están haciendo, ofreciendo su tiempo para ayudar a los estudiantes en nuestros centros educativos en Mijas» dice Arancha López, Concejala del Dep. de Extranjeros, Ayunt. de Mijas

Se ha llevado a cabo este proyecto en el IES Villa de Mijas, CEIP Virgen de la Peña y IES La Vega de Mijas. En octubre está previsto el inicio en los centros educativos en  la zona de la Cala de Mijas, siendo el primero el Colegio el Chaparral, con la cual hemos mantenido una reunión para iniciar la organización. «Necesitamos voluntarios y si te gustaría colaborar en este proyecto, contáctanos – no hace falta hablar español, solo un buen nivel de ingles, también nos interesa voluntarios de habla Francesa » comenta Juan Vicente, Presidente de la Asoc. The project «I SPEAK ENGLISH» was started up by the Foreigners Department, Mijas Town Hall 15 years ago, with the aim to help young students at the Primary and High Schools in Mijas municipality to improve their English. A group of volunteers, mainly British, associated with AIVOMI, attend the schools twice a week in the morning and for approximately 2 hours they talk, play and organize workshops with the pupils. The teachers and students at the centres are delighted with this initiative and the volunteers are happy to collaborate and as one said: «It is a nice way to give something back to the community where we live and we are very happy to collaborate in this project, said the coordinator of the groups»,Agnes Smith.

AIVOMI is an association that was established 3 years ago and is located in Mijas. They provide a free daily interpreter service at the Health Centres, Care and the Civil Guard. The Association AIVOMI is also now organizing the group of volunteers that participate in the «I speak English» project. «From the Dept. of  Foreigners of the Town Hall of Mijas, we are collaborating in this project as mediators and we are in contact with the Spanish and foreign medias in order try to obtain more volunteers», says Anette Skou, Mijas Foreigners Department. «We are very grateful to the Asoc. AIVOMI and all the volunteers for their collaboration in this programme giving their time to help the students at our local schools and high schools» said Arancha Lopez, Councillor of the Foreigners department, Mijas Town Hall.

This project has been carried out at following municipal schools: IES Villa de Mijas, CEIP Virgen de la Peña and IES La Vega de Mijas. The project is planned to start up in the area of ??Cala de Mijas in the month of October, the first being the Chaparral School, where a  meeting was held with Alicia Aguilar Vera – Bilingual Coordinator to start the project.
