MEETINGS & TALKS WITH THE CLUBS
The Mijas Foreigners Department is in contact on a regular bases with the different foreign clubs and association set up on the coast. The Department collaborates with them in different activities, programmes and also gives talks on how the Spanish system works as well as the services given by the Mijas Town Hall.
EXHIBITIONS
Mijas is a village of artists, of which many are foreign. The Department in collaboration with the Cultural Department organises art exhibitions, not only for artists in the village but also international artists that want to exhibit in our municipality. The Department organised an exhibition of paintings painted by of the then Princess of Denmark her Highness Margaret II. For the last years the department collaborates with A.I.R. (“Artists in Residence”), an art project that has been founded by Mr. Ulrich Häusler and is supported by the German Consulate in Malaga.
CHARITY EVENTS
There are many charities in Mijas: The Lions Clubs, The British Legion, Soroptomist International, Age Care, Age Concern, Red Cross, AECC, Cudeca, PADS, ACE España, FELINA, FAMA etc. The department collaborates with these charities in different events and social & animal welfare programmes.
CONSULAR EVENTS AND COLLABORATIONS
The Mijas Foreigners Department work closely with the Consular Body of Malaga, especially with the Consulates of United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany and United States of America Consular Agency. Throughout the year the Department collaborates with the different consulates and consular agencies in different events, social and welfare programmes.
CAMPAIGNS
The department also collaborates with municipal campaigns regarding registration of citizens and campaigns with different entities, such as the yearly campaigns to prevent skin cancer (campaign “Soludable”) in collaboration with the Hospital Costa del Sol.
SPORTS EVENTS
The department also is contacted by important European football clubs, who would like to carry out an football exchange, train or play a charity match in one of the football fields of the municipality. The Department in collaboration with the Sports Department arranges all the details so these clubs can enjoy their stay in Mijas and contribute to the local football clubs and charities.
